The First Ever Kenyan Silent Party in the USA
Party Planners Seek To Revolutionize The Kenyan Club Scene.
BY:LILLY RICHARDSJersey 254, has for over a better part of the past decade been the mother of all Jersey events. This year, they have taken it a notch higher and decided to try something totally new to the Kenyan party scene. It is a new “Party Concept” many Kenyans in Diaspora will agree is super crazy, and cool at the same time.
Imagine walking into a club, packed with hundreds of people but not a sound of music is heard! Yes, no music except for people dancing (with headsets on) to whatever madness that is going on. Strangely, everyone is dancing to a different rhythm and you stand there thinking… “this must be the end of the world.”
When I first heard of this concept, I laughed so hard. Firstly because I am the loudest girl in the club and secondly for me it goes against everything I am accustomed to or believe as far as clubbing goes. clubbing is all about the noise, rhyming along with the loud music to your favorite tune! A silent party? How now? Oh well, looks like I have been living under a rock for a minute coz this is already gaining popularity in NYC.Now our very own Kenyan Promoters here in the Tristate area are taking a chance and embracing this concept. As crazy as it sounds, it is rather cool when you think about it. Better still, bring your homework with you 🙂
If you are still wondering how this concept works, let me unravel this mystery for you. When you arrive at this party, you will be handed a wireless head phone. Each head phone when turned on, lights up to a pre-determined color coordinated genre of music based on your preference. This is how you will be able to hear the music.
These parties accommodate multiple DJs and Every DJ has a channel that is coded with a different color for a specific genre, thus Red, Blue and Green to be specific. Every DJ plays certain genre of music entertaining a very specific segment of the crowd. The good news is that the clubbers can switch from channel to channel whenever they feel like it.
You can tell who is listening to which DJ by the color that lights up on their head phones! How cool is that! Imagine bieng the Dj on the red Channel and the whole place lights up in Red! Damn!
I was having a conversation about the silent party a few days a go and a few confused queries came up. What is the etiquette? How do you behave at such a party since we guys have our die hard habits, what do you do if you wanna dance with someone and they are on a different channel? I guess you just have to attend this party and figure out the answer to that one. One thing is for sure, by the end of this party, we will know who the most popular DJ is coz no doubt, they will light up the house.
From Jersey with love, welcome to the party like no other, the party of the future brought to you by Jersey’s finest promoters namely Lloyd Umoja, Jeree JAHazi, Ovek JD and Deejay D-Vice.
On the Decks, Expect some of the Baddest DJs : Dj Simple Simon – Reggae: Blue, Dj Problem and Dj Solution (I am not making this up) – Soul Music: Red and DJ Clein – AfroBeat: Green.
